Oh dear. I suspect there’s a great deal going on here with your “multi cat” family. Ask your veterinarian for a referral to a behaviorist in your area. Your resident cats may already own all the litter boxes and be subtly (or not so subtly) keeping the stray cat from using the facilities. Has the new cat been segregated in a room by herself, and given her own litter box to ease introductions? Going back to basics to the introduction process might help. It may also be that as you say, she has an aversion to crystals and clumping litter. If she prefers the carpet and tile, try setting up a litter box that has a carpet remnant in the bottom. Alternately, you might leave one box nearly empty to see if she prefers that.
